FRANCISCO M. VERANO

Francisco “King” Verano is well-known for his sculptures made of unconventional and indigenous materials. King has experimented on Also a painter adept in watercolor and acrylic media, King also merges two-dimensional forms with sculptures. His landscapes and still life paintings garnered him awards from the Art Association of the Philippines and from the Shell National Students Art Competition.

 

King’s passion and skills in visual arts were enhanced by mentorship under National Artist Napoleon Abueva. He was also a part of the collective Saturday Group and founded the organization of watercolor painters called Agos Kulay. For the last couple of decades, King has been occupied by several commissioned works in heritage sights and significant landmarks in public places.
